L'enfer que j'ai laissé derrière
الجحيم الذي تركته ورائي - هو عنوان المحاضرة التي تتحدث عن تجربة المحاضر الذي أمضى حوالي 12 سنة من حياته في السجن بشكل تعسفي حيث لم يحكم عليه قط. تركز المحاضرة على البعد الإنساني ، وعلى الفرصة التي أعطتها هذه التجربة للمحاضر ليشهد ويختبر القدرة المذهلة للإنسان على التكيف مع الظروف القاسية والوحشية، والتي أتاحت له المزيد من معرفة ماهية قوة وضعف الكائن البشري. إنها التجربة التي فتحت عينيه وعقله على أنواع مختلفة من أحلام الناس وأفكارهم ومشاعرهم، وعلمته كيف يمكن أن يكون اليأس إما مصدر قوة وشجاعة ، أو بوابة للانهيار والجنون. لقد أتيحت له الفرصة لرؤية كيفية إراقة أعمار الناس، وكيف شربت برودة الجدران والحديد أيامهم ولياليهم بلا رحمة.
إنها لمحة عن معاناة أولئك الرجال الذين تم رميهم في مساحة لا تصلح إلا للألم والشعور بالضيق. ومحاولة لإلقاء الضوء على الطبيعة البشرية التي يمكن أن تكون مزيجًا من وحل الشياطين ووهج الملائكة.
نبذة عن المحاضر :
جمال سعيد كاتب ومترجم سوري من مواليد 1959. توارى لمدة سنتين قبل أن يكمل الثامنة عشرة هرباً من الاعتقال السياسي ثم اعتقل في العام 1980 وأمضى ما يزيد عن 11 عاماً في السجون. اعتقل للمرة الثانية في العام 1992 ليمضي نحو ثمانية أشهر.
تخرج من كلية الآداب – قسم اللغة الإنكليزية. نشرت له مجموعة قصصية قصيرة تحت عنوان "مجنونة الشموس" في العام 1993 عن وزارة الثقافة السورية. له العديد من المقالات التي تعنى بالشأن الثقافي والسياسي في الدوريات العربية. بعض هذه المقالات نشر باسم مستعار. خرج من سوريا مؤخراً لحماية أولاده من العنف في العام 2014.

"The Hell that I Left Behind” is the title of the lecture which is talking about the experience of the lecturer who spent about twelve years of his life in jail arbitrarily where he has never been suited or charged. The lecture is focusing on the human dimension to show the opportunity this experience gave to the lecturer to witness and test the incredible ability of the human being to adapt to the harshest and most savagely brutal conditions, and helped him to be more aware of the human nature, weakness and strength. It was an experience that opened his eyes and mind on different kinds of human dreams and ideas. It taught him the different meanings of despair which might be either a source of strength and braveness, or a gate to crash and madness. He had the chance to see how people’s ages were lost, and how their days and nights were absorbed by the coldness of walls and iron mercilessly.
It is about the suffering of those men who were thrown in a space that is good for nothing but pain and feeling of tightness. It is an attempt to highlight the human nature that could be a mixture of both guck of devils and glow of angels.
About the Lecturer:
Gamal Said, a Syrian writer and translator, was born in 1959. Before reaching the age of 18, he vanished for two years trying to escape political detention. Alas, he was arrested in 1980 and spent more than 11 years in prison. In 1992, he was again arrested and spent about eight months in prison.
He graduated from the Faculty of Arts - Department of English. In 1993, he published a short story series entitled "Crazy Suns" by the Syrian Ministry of Culture. In his repertoire, he has many articles dealing with cultural and political issues in the Arab periodicals. Some of these articles were published with an alias name. In 2014, he ended up leaving Syria to protect his children from the violence and currently resides in Kingston, Ontario.

"L'enfer que j'ai laissé derrière" est une conférence présentant l'expérience d’un homme qui a passé environ douze ans de sa vie en prison arbitrairement sans avoir été inculpé.
La conférence se concentre sur la dimension humaine pour montrer les possibilités que cette expérience a donnée à cet homme. Elle témoigne de l'incroyable capacité des êtres humains à s'adapter aux conditions les plus dures et les plus brutales. Cette expérience l'amené à prendre conscience de la profondeur de la nature humaine, de ses faiblesses et de ses forces. Cette expérience lui a ouvert les yeux et l'esprit sur les différents types de rêves et d'idéaux. Elle lui a appris les différentes significations du désespoir : soit c’est une source de force et de bravoure, soit c’est une porte vers l’effondrement et la folie.
Il a eu la chance de voir comment la durée de vie des gens a été gaspillée et comment leurs jours et leurs nuits ont été absorbés par la froideur des murs et du fer de la prison, sans pitié.
Il s'agit de la souffrance de ces hommes qui ont été jetés dans un espace qui ne sert à rien d'autre qu'à produire des douleurs et des tiraillements. L’objectif est de mettre en évidence la nature humaine qui est un mélange à la fois d’obscurité diabolique et de lueur angélique.
À propos du conférencier:
Gamal Said, écrivain et traducteur syrien, est né en 1959. Avant d'atteindre l'âge de 18 ans, il a dû disparaitre pendant deux ans afin d'échapper à la détention politique. Hélas, il a été arrêté en 1980 et a passé plus de 11 ans en prison. En 1992, il a de nouveau été arrêté et a passé environ huit mois en prison.
Il est diplômé de la Faculté des arts - Département d'anglais. En 1993, il a publié une série de nouvelles intitulée "Crazy Suns" par le ministère syrien de la Culture. Dans son répertoire, il a de nombreux articles traitant des questions culturelles et politiques dans les périodiques arabes. Certains de ces articles ont été publiés sous un pseudonyme. En 2014, il a fini par quitter la Syrie pour protéger ses enfants de la violence. Il réside actuellement à Kingston, en Ontario.
